Jan. 17th, 2008 08:30 pmI have been in and out of a funk recently, but hey, it's not all bad, today it was 5C in Vienna, so I didn't have to button my coat, whooo! This is an exciting development!
Also, how psyched am I for the movie rentals from iTunes? Sooooooo psyched! "Amazing Grace" is downloading as I type! My DVD player that I bought here is cheap and crappy and super sensitive and skips/freezes a lot, and I have rented a few movies, but those inevitably are less than pristine, and then after two restarts, I just end up watching on my laptop anyway.
I guess I never really said, huh, but I had a good holiday season overall. My parents came for two weeks and my sister and brother-in-law came for five days, and we all got along well and Vienna is super festive for Christmas, so it was fun. I watched Christmas episodes of a bunch of tv shows, The Office, Veronica Mars, the OC, and Bones, maybe more. What's weird is, just days after I rewatch the Bones xmas episode, when they are all stuck in quarantine because they might have unleashed Valley Fever (an extremely rare fungal infection) from a skeleton, I read that a CA prison has a valley fever epidemic, omg!
I think my best present is the flannel pajamas from my mom. If I could somehow work in a place where I could wear my green and purple flannel cat print pajamas all day, I think that would be heaven. Oh, and a friend got me a replica of Hermione's wand. The tip lights up when you tap something or flick it, heeeeee.
Some other happy things:
I have rediscovered my love of Bugles. Oh wow, Nacho Cheese Bugles, I love you so. I obliterate a bag in no time at all.
When I had some time off around the holidays, I watched 30 Rock season 1 ("Live every week like it is Shark Week") and Doctor Who season 3. I loved both. Alec Baldwin is so awesome, everything you've heard is true. And I liked Doctor Who way more than I thought I would with Rose out of the picture. I missed her, but the show missed her, so that was ok, and Martha really grew on me, so good job there, show! Also, I can't not love John Simm. I caught the first four episodes of "State of Play" with him on German tv, and I cannot wait for the last two episodes on Saturday. Or, you know, for the DVD to come out, so I can watch him in English, because he is even more adorable with his actual voice! When is "Life on Mars" getting a region 1 release?!?!?
I saw three movies last weekend, and really liked them all, but since they came out in the States months ago, I am not going to dwell, but thumbs up for Atonement, Bee Movie, and Enchanted.
