I hope you had a wonderful birthday yesterday!

So last weekend, I had [livejournal.com profile] biggieshorty and another friend from college visiting. But we noticed we had another visitor that night, much to the terror of the cats.

A raccoon on my balcony! (Gah, LJ keeps giving me an error when I try to embed, anyone else have this trouble?)

Usually Moya is the brave/fiesty one, but in this case, she took one look and slunk away all, oh hells no. The first fight she ever thought she may not win. Pilot on the other hand, who is a huge scaredy cat who runs away from everything, stayed by the glass door, poofy and wary but undaunted. Perhaps because while poofy he is noticeably bigger than the raccoon. Which was actually super adorable. I had no idea they could climb so well! I'm on the third floor, and the only way up is climbing the brick. Must be some tasty bird seed. It has returned once since then (that I've seen); I've only known it's there because of the cats' reactions.

I apparently had a very different initial reaction to the new Doctor than lots of fandom; in his first scene with little Amelia he was making me sort of hate him because of the complete mess he made of her kitchen and how he was eating and spitting out all this food she had prepared for him! He makes a little girl cook for him and then he spits it out? NUH-UH. He won me over not long thereafter, but that first kitchen bit reeeeeeally really rubbed me the wrong way. What a mess! Food on the floor! There could be ants! I also don't like the new theme music; I don't so much dislike it on its own merits, per se, but in comparison, I don't like it nearly as much. And the new font looks weird to me too; all I can think is that season 5 on my DVD shelf is not going to match the others. We'll see how I feel when I see the new episode tomorrow.
