Happy New Year!
Jan. 3rd, 2012 12:35 amAn assortment of cute and/or happy-making things to start 2012 right:
Orphaned polar bear cub is cool in care -- I have watched this video four times and I am surprised my heart didn't explode.
Baby Seal Pup Chills Out At New Zealand Home (PHOTOS) -- clearly I live in the wrong place
Cagebreak! Rats Will Work To Free A Trapped Pal -- Awww, sweet rat babies!
I am super chuffed that The Vampire Diaries made the Onion AV Club's list of The Best TV of 2011. New episode this week, whoooo! And in other happy/hilarity making Onion links, Nicolas Cage was on the cover of a Serbian biology textbook, obviously and Christopher Nolan not particularly worried about whether you can understand Bane or not. Narfinbargle, heeeee!
And I've seen a bunch of movies these last two weeks:
We Bought A Zoo -- Loved. It. I know it's basically sappy, but I did not care. It was exactly the kind of sap I like, namely with zoo animals! Those who know me should be rightly worried that this has planted the seed of zoo-buying desires.
Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol -- I liked it a lot. Solidly entertaining, and mrrrow, Jeremy Renner, rolled up sleeves suit you.
A Dangerous Method -- I don't know how I feel about it. It was good, I think, but I didn't like it. But I didn't hate it. I can see why Keira Knightley's performance has been polarizing. I don't know what to make of that, either. It made me want to know more about Freud and Jung's real life relationship. And Michael Fassbender and Viggo were really good. And spotting where they filmed in Vienna (one scene was LITERALLY around the corner from the street I lived on) was neat too.
The Artist -- I saw this with my parents. My mom was lukewarm and thought it was "weird." I thought it was pretty charming and enjoyable, if perhaps a wee bit padded in length.
And so many more I want to see! On my list are Sherlock Holmes, Dragon Tattoo, The Descendants, My Week With Marilyn, Arthur Christmas (although I've probably missed the window), War Horse (maybe, I secretly think I'd cry too much), Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy (just as soon as its release gets wider). And maybe Shame, but that will probably be a rental, as it's such a limited release. Any good ones I am missing?
