Last night my old boss had a party for the former and current people working under her. As part of it, for reasons it is not worth explaining, I was presented both with a twinkly tiara and a magic wand.

I got home, dropped my stuff on a chair, and went to turn on a light. In the intervening seconds, Pilot managed to get his paws on the wand and run off with it in his teeth.

He's doing that thing where he's tossing it up with his teeth so that he can tackle it again some more.

Moya meanwhile went after the tiara, also bedecked with feathers.

But Pilot was having none of that and soon seized the tiara, too, and got all growly if Moya approached. He's the fairy princess, damn it!

Heeeeeeeee. They can be such trouble, but then they go and remind you why you keep them around.

So cute! Much cuter than Thurston's newest bit-of-fun: opening the kitchen cabinets. He is a CAT! He should not OPEN THINGS! But, you know how it is--they never listen when you tell them to stop evolving.

By the way, thank you so much for the ferret calendar! In addition to enjoying all the dressed-up ferrets--which I enjoy plenty, believe me--I can also look at them and think to myself, "No matter how weird things get with my cats, at least it's better than being shackled to that ferret I had for a week." (Uh, figuratively shackled. Or, no, also literally shackled! God, I can't even imagine how awful THAT would be...)

Heh, that is not a problem I currently have with them. Once the cats were sleeping in the bedroom with me, so I left the door ajar, and when I wake up the door is not so ajar that a cat can walk through, but by no means closed, and they were both sitting right there intently looking at the door. Apparently neither of them has figured out the paw-can-be-used-as-leverage thing yet, and they didn't know how to get out.

But it is a problem when Thurston starts figuring things out -- I thought Knives was the brains!

And, from what I remember of Chloe? Zoe? what was she named? It would not have been possible to be literally shackled to her for long, because of the whole flesh-eating tendencies thing. She would have chewed right through whatever part of you was chained to her, I think. :)
