if we are going to die, let's die looking like a Peruvian folk band

I don't always know what to make of Amy, but I loved her in tonight's episode. And the theme song has grown on me. As is so often true, I don't always have Big Thoughts after watching Doctor Who, but I did think the insights into the ways he hates himself were interesting.

Logo is going to have a Buffy marathon next weekend, counting down the top 30 episodes as voted on by fans. (Vote here.) It was really hard for me to pick 10. Do you go for the really good but gut-wrenching? Or the totally fun comedic? So hard! Ultimately, I voted for the ones I thought would work best as part of a marathon. It's not that I am seriously arguing that Doomed is better than Becoming or The Gift, just that part of what make those work best is the culmination of everything leading up to that season ender, and so I voted more for one offs. As will become apparent, I loved season 4 and the Initiatve arc (aside from when Adam got all talky meat).

1. Once More With Feeling
2. Doppelgangland
3. Fool For Love
4. The Initiative
5. Something Blue
6. Doomed
7. A New Man
8. Lovers Walk
9. The Wish
10. Band Candy

It's a funny thing to me now when I watch a movie and know that it was filmed in Vancouver. Having watched enough tv shows filmed there, I can spot so many familiar faces. It sort of took me out of The Chronicles of Riddick yesterday, as I was all, oh look, she was on Due South. And he was on Stargate, etc etc. It probably didn't help that the role I imprinted on Colm Feore was Sanjay from Slings and Arrows. So when I see him leading the Necromanger army, I am all, oh that wacky Sanjay, always trying new things, what will it be next? I can't really take him seriously as a villain now. But Vin Diesel was smoking hot in that movie. And maybe I should not admit that, but hey, I think the new Karate Kid movie secretly looks sort of awesome, so manifestly I can have worse taste.

And pssst, [livejournal.com profile] biggieshorty, did you see this? ’90s Nickelodeon Stars: Where Are They Now?

And a very handy resource: The Non-Football Fan's Guide to the World Cup or What to do When You're Just Here for the Hot Men. Yoann Gourcuff, je t'aime!
