Matt totally rules. "Maybe we can do both decades." "NO!" Hahah, I loved the conversation about the decade dance. They did the 50s in season 1 and the 60s in season 2, so quite logically this season should have been the 70s. But I like to think that the conversation about how much cooler the 20s would be happened in the writers' room before they decided to make Rebekah do the switch on the show. Heh. Although: I've seen the Coachella pictures, Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder could pull of 70s looking things.

Speaking of, HOT DAMN. I sort of loved how they handled that. You could just see how torn Elena is. She knows it's not necessarily the best idea, she knows he's volatile, ... and she knows she wants him. But that isn't enough to make her blind to his faults, so she is still not sure. But his faults aren't enough to make her blind in the literal sense, so... Yowza, that motel scene is destined to live in screencaps and icons for eternity. (That Rose speech later seemed pretty unnecessary, though, gotta say.)

I also love having Jeremy see Rose to find out about her line. I didn't think of that, it's genius. (As is the whole Originals line thing.) I wonder how long ago the writers thought of that. Clearly Klaus and Kol don't know he can talk with the dead. Killing Mary doesn't mean they can't find out which Original, it just makes it harder. And are we so sure that killing Klaus would kill Tyler? Maybe it would just kill the vampire part of him? Dehybridizing him and reverting him to a werewolf? They haven't given us enough info to know one way or another. I was glad to have Tyler back, but the Klaus jealousy seemed a little quick to escalate. But maybe it's a healthy sign? When he was sire-bonded, he wanted what Klaus wanted. Being jealous of Klaus's interest in Caroline, that does sound like he is more "himself."

Didn't love the Alaric/Stefan scenes. They were mostly just filler delaying the inevitable, but I guess there was some character insight. I did not guess the Esther thing, although maybe I should have. I knew something was up but had actually totally forgotten about that possessing Alaric arc, and never thought of it. This ought to be good!

The Secret Circle does not usually motivate me to write about it, although I have been enjoying it week to week. But this week's was pretty awesome, I thought. I totally knew Grandma was not long for this world as soon as her conversation with Cassie ended with exchanged I love yous. I've seen tv before, I know how that works. And Diana! I mean, it's not that I hadn't thought of it, there are only so many candidates after all, and it wasn't going to be one of the guys, because they need to maximize the potential couplings. And it doesn't seem wise to give dark magic to Faye because she'd go too far and start the apocalypse and then poof, no show, so Diana makes sense. I wonder if Charles knows? Also, it cannot be overstated: Joe Lando wears a peacoat like a motherfucking boss.

In non-tv news, I am preparing to adopt a second cat. Moya is bored and lonely and so clearly needs a friend. There is a cat adoption fair on Sunday. I've asked the cat rescue group to help narrow down the candidates to a short list who seem like they could get along with Moya. She's a very bossy, dominant female, so I am looking for an easygoing, friendly younger male cat, as that is what the counselors recommend. But it will still be hard to choose! I feel a twinge of guilt when I am shopping and see a knick knack with a face and I pick one up only to put it back down and select another. This is why Toy Story 3 did such a number on me. I am going to feel guilty about the cats I don't pick! I hope I feel a connection with one of them so it makes the choice clear. Meep.

Oh, and speaking of cats, this legitimately made me laugh out loud:

Good luck picking the new kitty! And be sure to give them plenty of time to adjust to each other. :)

VampDi did indeed bring the hot Damon/Elena scene. And they made Tyler seem quite whiny and over-reactionary, but hey, Caroline was looking good!

Thanks! I've prepped the guest room (mostly by clearing out crap and/or shoving it in the closet) and I plan to keep new kitty in there for a few days, per the expert advice, and go back and forth petting them without washing my hands so they get their smells on each other. You've done this a million times, any other advice?

That's a great start. You can also put their food bowls near the door to help them associate. And be sure to be extra kind to the original kitty.

The problem we see the most is that people don't give them enough time and get stressed out, which translates to the cats. Then they return the cat and ignore all our advice. But we smile and coddle the kitty and then find him/her a better home!

Feel free to chat me up on this subject if you have any worries or questions at all!!!
