Skittles, whyyyyyyy?
Jan. 30th, 2013 08:18 pmSkittles has swapped out lime for green apple, noooooooo! The new green apple flavor is terrible tasting. It's all sour and bitter and do not want. If I wanted sour candy, I'd buy sour candy, not Skittles, which is now 20% sour that does not mesh well at all with the rest of the sweet in the bag. I'm going to have to hit a bunch of stores and see if I can find older pre-flavor-swap bags with delicious lime still inside. And I went to the website to leave feedback but the website kept trying to make me experience the rainbow, and I was all F you, where is your feedback button?! I found it eventually, but clearly they want Facebook likes and tweets, and thanks for making me feel like an old lady just by virtue of my preferred feedback mechanism, Skittles! Like the green apple flavor wasn't enough for one day! But then they were very nice in their response to my feedback, which appears to have been written by an actual human, and they said that they do want feedback about changes and thanked me for writing and they are sending me a coupon. And my opinion does not seem to be universal, as I picked out the green ones from the bag and put them in a ziplock for my friend to try, and he thinks they are super tasty. Come to think of it, I typically don't like anything flavored as green apple, including actual green apples. I mean, there are worse tastes? But red apples are so much tastier. And lime Skittles yet tastier still, come back to me!
I had another good customer service interaction yesterday, actually, with American Express, which I am not a customer of. I called them to tell them that I kept getting emailed the statements of some customer, whose email they wrongly think is mine. From the name, I can guess how it happened, it'd only be one letter off, so either a typo, or a handwriting misinterpretation, probably. Either way, they were super nice and thanked me profusely for flagging it for them, after I told them and suggested they contact the customer through another means to clarify the email account.
So I am still enjoying the delicious cheese that is Beauty and the Beast. And it cracks me up to think that my comment a few weeks back that Kristin Kreuk had fantastic hair, but not as good as Bridget Regan's as Kahlan on Legend of the Seeker (see icon) was somehow foreshadowing, because guess who is now a gueststar? Hehehhe. I know the red hair is basically her natural color or close to it after dying it for LOTS, but it's taking a little getting used to. Still so pretty, though I wish we'd see some movement to really see how it holds up. Actually, if she and Catherine don't get into a L'Oreal-because-we're-worth-it hair swoosh-off, it'll be such a wasted opportunity. She is so immensely likeable, I think she's pulling off a role that is probably destined to be pretty thankless, as a speedbump merely delaying the inevitable Vincent/Catherine pairing. It was a little jarring to see her not be able to fight off that stalker. I was like, twirl around and Confess that dude...oh wait, wrong show. But at least she took agency in the plan to get that guy, poorly as it went, and I like she and Catherine aren't treating each other like rivals. This Evan plot has potential, I guess, although I don't want him to be an antagonist, really. I'd be happy with more scenes of him looking at Catherine like she hung the moon, myself, but I suppose investigating the DNA thing leads to more drama.
I have thoughts swirling in my head about JJ Abrams directing the new Star Wars and the new Star Trek and they are mostly of the :| and /o\ variety. I frequently enjoy his ideas, and like what he creates at least at first, but he has NO FOLLOW THROUGH. He just thinks of things and never plan where they lead and things go off the rails if left to him. This happens even in Felicity, with the spell that reversed time, but it clearly not having been planned ahead. I became enraged during the DVD commentaries in Alias when he was all, yeah, the floating red ball meant nothing at first, I just thought it was cool and surprising and the whole Rambaldi thing was just to give the characters a reason to go do things. What the actual fuck, you know? It's not like I didn't know Rambaldi was a McGuffin, but at least decided what your own motherfucking McGuffin is for the context of your own goddamn show! I now think I'd prefer him to do Star Wars than Star Trek? Making things cool and go boom is a better fit for Star Wars. Star Trek is supposed to be a idealized vision of after humanity's gotten its shit together and the trailers for Into Darkness make me worried that he doesn't get that part of it. (And the hand thing is just fucking with us, grrrrrr.) I loved the Star Trek Reboot, but now when I think about it, I bet you ANYTHING he has not thought through the consequences of what he set in motion. Like, what the fuck is the Federation like without the influence of the Vulcans??? And what is Kirk like without the calming hand of Spock? Shaking things up is all well and good, but know what you're doing if you're doing it. But I am less precious about the world of Star Wars, and his favorite tropes should work fine there, so that'll probably work out. I just wish someone else would take over Star Trek.
