Vampire Diaries 4x12
I LOVE THIS SHOW. RIP, Kol. There's always the chance of flashbacks on the Originals spin off, should that come to be. I felt a twinge of sympathy for Klaus seeing his brother get staked, that sucks, but when he was all I'll get you, my pretty to Elena, I wanted her to reply, we staked your brother, you vamped then killed Aunt Jenna, then drained me dry intending to kill me, which ended up killing my dad, so... And now he has to look at the charred corpse of his brother for days trapped in the living room! I did love his dungeon scenes with Damon, pumping him for tips on just how he manages to eke out forgiveness, it was sort of adorable, even as I am still a little /o\ at the idea of Klaus and Caroline. (Who was missed this week.) And I LOLed at Damon's "She's met me, she knows impulse control is not my strong suit." HA! Funny because it's so so true.
But I just loved that last week, it was all you've got a long road of vampire hunting ahead of you, Jeremy, and this week, it was poof! Problem solved. TVD in a nutshell. I bet the internet is busy making gifs of him ripping his shirt off as I type this.
Bonnie's parents are just the worst! Does she need to check herself before she wrecks herself? Probably. But their draconian approach is not the way! You don't get to miss your parenting responsibilities for years and then waltz back into her life taking a because-I-said-so approach. I loved Bonnie's take down of Kol, she is a BAMF. A hopefully remaining non-evil BAMF, but a BAMF in any case. In truth I had totally forgotten her mom was still out there as a vampire, and that Bonnie had her as a reason to seek the cure.
I loved the continuity with Stefan talking about Lexi when the Bon Jovi song came on. And I loved him talking about he liked who he was when he was with Lexi or Elena. Stefan's cellphone just had a generic head silhouette for Elena when she called, he's deleted all his pictures of her, clearly he's heartbroken, but I'm glad he can still acknowledge she brought out the good in him. I am vaguely bummed we didn't get to see everyone all 80'sed up but the Rebekah and Stefan scenes were pretty great. She especially did really great outfit-wise for someone who was daggered for the duration. Those two have a really interesting dynamic. Anger plus wanting things to be different. I totally buy Rebekah wanting to be human. Matt's little reaction shot made me wonder if those two aren't over yet? I'm glad she's undaggered for the cure hunt. I don't know what is going to happen, and I love it!
