imwaldeI saw the movie again today with a friend who loved the show, but was not a Kickstarter backer. She loved it too. Just as one data point of how the movie is doing, this theater had pretty respectable attendance. Almost no one in the four closest rows down front (but who likes to sit so close?) and then in the stadium rows, about 50% full? Not bad! And, judging from the laugh lines, I think mostly non-diehards. Minimal laughter at the injokes (kickstarter reference, theme song busker, etc), but laughter at the funny moments.
One thing I noticed on this viewing? An extra at the high school reunion is wearing gray and black argyle! He's in the background and I couldn't tell if it was THE argyle sweater shirt or just a nod to it, but either way: hee.
Has anyone else read the shooting script? I like reading the stage directions, and the differences between the script and the movie are interesting to me. For instance that Madison was supposed to be on the boat. And Parker, too! Because she and Dick hooked up after her Logan breakup. I wonder if they decided including Parker made things too complicated or if the actress was not available or what. But Madison was in the movie, I wonder why they decided to leave her off the boat? I'm sad the Die Hard joke didn't make it in the final cut. I would have laughed!
I love the movie a lot, and I want there to be more, so I wish we knew what the magic number was for profitability where Warner Brothers would make more. I'd be prepared to see it again and do my part to get us to it. Tell us, Warner Brothers, and VM fans will deliver!
