Haven finale
Dec. 18th, 2015 01:09 am NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO NOT DUKE! *sobbity tears of woe* I can't be satisfied with Duke being dead!!! I mean, it's not like they haven't foreshadowed Duke dying at Nathan's hand for seasons now, as soon as he got that tattoo, but whhhhhhhhyyyyyyy?
Besides that, it was mostly satisfying. Not a cliffhanger, and a clear resolution, so obviously everyone knew this was the end. It was cute to see the cameos. Hi, Jason Priestley! Hi, Nicole de Boer! I know I am supposed to like the symmetry of the end, and I sort of do, but actually I think what I thought was the end of the Barn disappearing might have been better. I would almost prefer them doubling down on the sad/poignant ending rather that having just Duke have to be screwed out of one. I mean, I know he chose his destiny and all but still. Boooooooooo.
The show hasn't felt like itself since the Barn imploded at the end of season 3 because the second set of show runners were all about mythology, and did not understand their characters. Maybe because they spent so much time with Audrey not being Audrey in those seasons. They tried to fix the Audrey/Nathan/Duke dynamic at the end of this season, and I do appreciate that they had a lot of good Nathan/Duke stuff, but they sort of never got Audrey/Duke right again (expect for maybe how he knew she wasn't Lexi?), not like in earlier seasons. Audrey's speech to get through to Duke was really good, though, I'll give them that. I think this was about as good a course correction as they could pull off, and plot-wise, I am mostly satisfied, but having your characters only act like themselves for a few episodes at the end after seasons of being off is still a little hard not to grumble about.
But seriously y'all, WHAT DOES THE CROCKER BOX MEAN?!?!??!?!
