X-Files 10.2
Jan. 26th, 2016 03:01 amWell that was much better than last night's episode. I am a little o.O that they are fully credentialed FBI agents again, so quickly, and after Mulder was in HIDING but ok, whatever. It had to happen for the show to exist, so maybe I should be grateful I was spared the scenes of bureaucratic wheels turning. Also, hello, what's-your-name who was part of the Nerd Herd from Chuck. Never seen you so serious!
I was suitably creeped out (birds, for instance), but I did not expect the gross outs. EWWWWWW X-Files I do not appreciate a) seeing the MOTHERFUCKING skull cut open post cranial-autopsy b) oh yeah, for that matter, the death by ear-letter-opener c) THE SLICING INTO THE PREGNANT BELLY, JESUS or d) the bleeding eyeballs etc although dude had it coming. Yeesh.
I am happy brother and sister reunited, but slightly alarmed at how nonchalantly they just let the power twins go off into the sunset? Hopefully they bust out their mom and she can help guide them. I am a little blurry at what the government hoped to accomplish? And a little blurry on whether these genuinely were fetuses with abnormalities that then they experiment on or whether that's a ruse and they just need babies and the abnormalities witnessed are the results of the experiments? I guess it's all part of the alien DNA experiments, but thankfully we were largely spared many reminders of last episode's nonsense.
The William imaginary scenes were interesting. I guess this is where me and my yapping about continuity is supposed to be happy that they actually remembered something from the old show, but I always always hated the William storyline. I would have been delighted with Scully being happy by having a child, but that was so far from what we got and it was all of this drama with fertility and her pregnancy and then maybe-alien miracle baby being hunted by super soldier nonsense and then they are like, JUST KIDDING WE GAVE AWAY THE KID, like WTF show. If you wanted to see Mulder and Scully with a kid YOU COULD HAVE DONE THAT BEFORE. But it clearly wasn't the story they wanted to tell, so I am side-eyeing it now. That said, seeing their hopes and fears for their child was sort of heartbreaking and nothing we'd seen before, so I hope they pay this off.
Next episode looks good. *crosses fingers*
Lucifer was sort of dumb but also mostly entertaining, plus I think he's hot, so when my normal Monday shows are in rerun, sure, why not. And lots of actors I knew. Hi guy from Mad About You, Vicki from TVD, and Chase from BTVS!
