Feeling better today about things, among other reasons because a friend is in town. Funny how that works, huh?

I spent a gloriously unproductive weekend in my pajamas, because it is rainy and unseasonably cold in Vienna. I reread "A Wrinkle in Time" and "A Wind at the Door" upon hearing that Madeline L'Engle (sp?) died. Some parts I remembered vividly, like down to the wording. No idea how many times I read them as a kid, but I should get to my reread of "A Swiftly Tilting Planet" this week. But...there are five books in this series?!?! Where the hell have I been, I had no idea! I read that there were two more in the Time Series in her nytimes obituary, and promptly ordered them online. That's embarassing, I feel like I should have known that.

I've decided to watch/rewatch my DVDs in alphabetical order. Because I have a lot of them, and they are already in alphabetical order, and that seems as good a system as any. I thus watched a great deal of The Adventures of Brisco County Jr this weekend. I bought the Brisco DVDs when they came out, but hadn't gotten around to watching them. It's glorious and silly and fun and just like nothing else, really. So many guest stars to recognize! And Bruce Campbell in tight pants on horseback, so really, what's not to love. It makes me feel really old, though, because I REMEMBER quite well watching it air on tv, but that was in 1993, omfg. And it's theme is now used for NBC's Olympics coverage, and it took a looooong time to not pavolovlianly (new word!) expect Bob Costas to narrate each episode when I heard it. (Not the serious DUN DUN DUN theme, but the jauntier one they play over the montage under the "credits" before they cut to Bob Costas in the studio...)

Anyway, this -- Mr. Lee's CatCam -- is also making me happy. Ganked the link from somewhere, but a guy got curious what his outdoors-roaming cat did all day when he was at work, so he built a time release camera thing to take pictures from cat POV during the day. And his cat roams around and visits other cats, apparently! So cute. Catcam photos here.

Oh no! I talk to my parents (on a landline, granted) and they've never had problems hearing me. They say I can be a little echoey, but since my place has high ceilings and is in fact a little echoey, we could never tell if it is the connection.

Ack, don't know my own Skype number, but will send it when I find it.
