Sad news indeed. Travel question: I'll be in Berlin starting on the 8th of November. Would you be willing to have me as your houseguest, say, the 13th to the 15th? I could take an overnight train down the night of the 12th, play tourist and company, and then fly back to London on the 16th to get my return flight.

Let me know if that's amenable, and how much German I need to go learn.

Hey, sorry for the delayed reply, I didn't notice this until now. Sure, no problem! My guestroom is open! I will likely be on evening shift that week (meaning I work from 3-11pm) so that just means I'll be having lunch, not dinner with you.
