So I stayed up irresponsibly late Monday night finishing The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. I just did not want to stop reading. Then Tuesday after work I went to Barnes and Noble to buy The Girl Who Played With Fire (and An Artificial Night). I started it then, but then last night I stayed up irresponsibly late to finish it. Duuuuude. The cover is not lying when it says you can't put it down! (At least not after the first 200 pages once the true plot kicks in.) It's hardly an original reaction, but Lisbeth Salander is a fascinating protagonist. The third one is still in hardback, boo, maybe I'll try the used books stores, because I don't think I can wait!

Vampire Diaries: HOLY SHIT, Y'ALL. This show is going to kill me one day. Damon can't take getting the same rejection line from Katherine, then Elena. I get that. I pictured booze and something self destructive. (Then again, I thought his confusion last season was hinting that maybe he had cottoned on that it wasn't Elena on the porch, but no.) I DID NOT THINK HE'D SNAP JEREMY'S NECK. OMG OMG OMG. Did he see the ring? Did he know? Gah, I don't think he did, I think he was trying going back to being his old self. I was so :O about that that I completely forgot about Caroline with all that vamp blood in her! I DID NOT SEE THAT COMING. I CANNOT BELIEVE THAT JUST HAPPENED. Wow. I mean, they promised Katherine would shake things up, but duuuuuude. And it was Bonnie's idea and her pressure on Damon that made it happen! She is going to flip. I do not remember that mental trick she can do on vampires, have we ever seen that before? But thanks for giving away if she feeds in the promo, dipshits! Sigh.

I thought Nina Dobrev did a really good job of being Elena, Katherine, and Katherine pretending to be Elena. It was fascinating to hear on the s1 dvd commentary that at first they didn't know how they'd do Katherine, and it was ND who begged to have her play her too. I can't picture it any other way now, there'd certainly be no doppelganger hijinx.

And Stefan threatening John? Hot damn. We'll see you at sweeps time, Sark!

Nikita: Huh. I don't know what I think. I am not won over yet, but I'll give it some more time. I was surprised how I could get behind Maggie Q in the role; it was actually Shane West as Michael who was throwing me. What with the talking and emoting. It's strange what they are keeping and what they are not. Like, keeping the names Michael and Berkoff, but Madelyn is Amanda now and Operations is PERCY?! Weird. And the other recruits thing was also a whole different vibe. I did not at all think Alex was the mole, much less a plant! That was cool. Had a little trouble buying Tom in that role, he just doesn't seem like death row material. I'll give it some time, and hopefully soon I won't be comparing them in my mind.

Robin of Sherwood, which I've already talked about extensively. That show aside, Batman: The Animated Series. It was so well made. I've seen every episode too many times to count. I knew all the major voice actors by name, and I used to watch other things they were in (like, Kevin Conroy, the voice of Batman/Bruce was in this terrible sci fi movie called something City, and made a special effort to watch because I wanted to know what he looked like. He sounded quite different, though, but sometimes you could hear Bruce. Never the Batman voice, though. Someone (I think a boyfriend of my big sister?) got me a fanzine comprehensive guide which I used to consult extensively. I loved Harley Quinn best of all (sneak sneak sneak!). Whenever people quote Tyger Tyger, it's Kevin Conroy's voice in my head (at the end of that episode with Catwoman and the cat hybrids?) My favorite episodes are probably Harley and Ivy (duh), Almost Got 'Em, and The Forgotten. And I loved the Red Claw ones. Man, I should get me some DVD sets!

Who was your favorite villain? That's the easiest way to remember most episodes. Alternatively, there are the Robin ones and the Bruce Wayne backstory ones and one-offs like The Gray Ghost. (Of course, when you say it, it's like The GrrrraaaaAAAAY GHOST!)
