Here's my completely made-up unsubstantiated theory, because it's the only reason I can think of: they named her North West to make her unGoogleable. As famous as that little baby is and will be, there is just no way the only results when Googling will be her. If that's not the reason, then I just don't know. I think Nori is cute, though. How in the world does everyone seem to know that that is Japanese for seaweed? Is that common knowledge I just missed out on?

Things that make me happy:

Troublebuckets Charm School

Kanye West 'Yeezus' lyric or Lucille Bluth quote? Take our quiz! - Hahhaha, awesome.

A BABY BAY WITH HICCUPS, I COULD JUST DIE FROM THE CUTE:

Things that make me grrrr:

At The Movies, The Women Are Gone: "In many, many parts of the country right now, if you want to go to see a movie in the theater and see a current movie about a woman — any story about any woman that isn't a documentary or a cartoon — you can't. You cannot. There are not any. You cannot take yourself to one, take your friend to one, take your daughter to one.

There are not any.
"

And Man of Steel needs to go on this list. I didn't hate it, but man, do I hate the ending. It starts off pretty strong, in my opinion, and hot damn, Henry Cavill. And I like what they did with Lois. I always am bracing myself for her getting into trouble or getting herself into trouble, recklessly or needlessly, a tiresome facet in many adaptations. With the possible exception of her following him into the ice ship, this Lois was in the clear! And they have logical reasons for her to be in the thick of things because she finds him, a, and then other people suss out that she might know something and go try to get the info out of her, b.

But that ending. WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT? Superman is personally responsible for destroying a huge swath of the city! And Smallville too! I could buy, maybe, possibly, knocking down one building max. After that, it's just willful destruction or gross motor skills incompetence. Since when is Superman's only move Hulk Smashing Through Buildings? Laser-eye him! Freeze breath him! (or at least that fire you started at the gas station) FLY UPWARDS AND/OR INTO OPEN AREAS, FFS! It's funny, some reviews are like, oh noes, he killed Zod, and that's their major problem with the ending, and I'm all, Zod is the least of his problems, his death toll is likely somewhere in the thousands from all the buildings he leveled! And I don't know what this says about me, and I know Superman traditionally was very anti-killing, but I'd have more problems with him not killing Zod. With Zod, it's a fair fight, unlike when Superman fights humans, and there was no other way to stop him, so that didn't bother me the way the rampant Metropolis destruction did.

I am clearly not the only one who thinks the end destruction was crazeballs, because someone else did the research and the math: The Insane Destruction That The Final “Man Of Steel” Battle Would Do To NYC, By The Numbers.

And it's like he didn't even notice! COME ON. One neat detail, though, the truck that gets smashed into that parking garage? Labeled Lexcorp. Dun dun DUN.

I totally agree about the insane destruction of Metropolis. It's just wanton building-smashing! I kept thinking of Hancock, actually, where on the news they talk about the cost of damage Hancock caused, just like in that Buzzfeed article. I feel the same about Zod - that's a fair, one-on-one superbeing fight and he had clearly said he was never going to stop trying to found a new Krypton, so his continued existence would permanently endanger Earth. Killing him was fair and reasonable, under the circumstances. But to punish Metropolis on quite that scale? No, not so much.

I noticed the Lexcorp truck - woo! I can't wait to see who they cast as Lex.

I read somewhere that I can't find again that they were greenlighting the sequel right now because of the movie's success, so we probably won't have too long to wait.

When I was trying to think of who could be Lex, my mind went to Timothy Olyphant. But bald wasn't his favorite look of mine. I mean, he's still hot, but I much prefer him with hair.

Olyphant would be interesting, but when you mentioned casting my mind actually went straight to Denzel Washington...

Denzel would be a pretty great Lex Luthor. He hasn't really done much tentpole/genre stuff, but hopefully he can be talked into it.

If not, maybe Edward Norton could work?

He definitely could, if he could be induced to get within a mile of a tentpole superhero movie again!

I think any actor who could radiate the kind of intelligent malevolence of Lex Luthor would be great. Kevin Spacey was strangely miscast (because you'd think he'd be good) in Superman Returns. Given the calibre of casting in Man of Steel, though, I reckon they'll find someone excellent for it.
