UPDATE: Grrrrrr. Kaylee's "Hell with this. I'm gonna LIVE!" became "Ah non. Je suis decidée. Pas question de crever." Which means, "I've decided. No question of dying." Annoying! It could be so much better if they only had asked meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Date: 2006-01-09 02:40 pm (UTC)It seems like in most of these cases, a simple literal translation would beat the DVD's translations. I wonder why they translate as they do.
Mal : Plus vite ! On profiterait d'un gain de vitesse !
I've seen the Russian phrase "да, я понимаю" (meaning "yes, I understand") translated in two movies as "Yes, I know a couple guys" and "I think I can do it." I've also seen the Spanish "quizás" (meaning "maybe") translated as "maybe not."
