Ok, now this is REALLY making me mad.

This exchange -- Mal: You want to run this ship?! Jayne: Yes! Mal: ... well, you can't -- became this in French --

Mal: Tu veux commander ce vaisseau? (You want to run this ship?)
Jayne: Oui. (Yes)
Mal: Oublie ça. T'es trop idiot. (Forget it. You're too stupid.)

WHAT? That's not the line!!!!

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

On the plus side, no tears yet!

UPDATE: Grrrrrr. Kaylee's "Hell with this. I'm gonna LIVE!" became "Ah non. Je suis decidée. Pas question de crever." Which means, "I've decided. No question of dying." Annoying! It could be so much better if they only had asked meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

(Yeah, I know what ben means. ;-)

It seems like in most of these cases, a simple literal translation would beat the DVD's translations. I wonder why they translate as they do.

Mal : Plus vite ! On profiterait d'un gain de vitesse !

I've seen the Russian phrase "да, я понимаю" (meaning "yes, I understand") translated in two movies as "Yes, I know a couple guys" and "I think I can do it." I've also seen the Spanish "quizás" (meaning "maybe") translated as "maybe not."

On profiterait d'un gain de vitesse!

I can live with that although I think it still could be better. At least they used the conditional.
