Ok, so my friend Marko put an offer on a condo. He found it for a good price, but it's not a once-in-a-lifetime-must-purchase deal. But when he noticed that the people selling it weren't the name on the documents, he Googled the guy.

And, it turns out HE WAS MURDERED. IN THE CONDO. (It's his parents who are selling.)

Marko is a little creeped out by this, especially as he now remembers that, like, one part of one wall was reeeeeeally recently painted. Which is ooogy. And he's thinking about withdrawing his offer, because it's not so cheap that's it's a no-brainer, although it is in a good location.

Also, could someone please send me Apolo Anton Ohno giftwrapped? Yum.

I don't know which option to click. Was he actually murdered in the condo? Because I think I'd withdraw the offer then. But if not, then I'd keep the offer. Maybe I'm just being silly, but it would creep me out on dark nights walking through a room where someone was murdered.

I honestly don't have an answer, it's such a personal thing. If it's going to make Marco uncomfortable, then even if the price is one dollar, he shouldn't take it.

Huh. I wouldn't be able to live in the condo, myself. Is it a good enough deal he could keep it as an investment property? I could maybe deal with that, but I'd be afraid that I'd continue to run into people who, like me, just couldn't deal with living where a guy was murdered, and I wouldn't be able to hide that from them for ethical reasons, so...I dunno.

I had a somewhat similar situation, my husband and I were so tempted to buy a house in our neighborhood that was selling *so cheap* but it was because - and I remember driving by the day after it happened - a father had killed his two little girls and himself in the home, because he was despondent over his finances. Even though it was a good deal and I think we could've very cheaply fixed it up and made a nice profit we were afraid we'd end up not being able to sell it at all.

Yup, in the condo. Dude, I get creeped out after watching Supernatural or X-Files, there's no way I could do that.

Oh, that's so sad! Yeah, I couldn't have bought it either.

He's not really in a position to buy an investment property, but while it's cheap, it's not quite that cheap.

This is so lame. All old houses have had people die in them. Does he actually believe that an angry ghost is going to get him, or does he think the murderer is still around? If he likes the condo, he should buy it. What difference does it make who used to live there?

It's funny, in New York I wouldn't be surprised to learn that there had been a murder on every block, but it seems creepier somehow in a suburban setting. Is that weird?

Hee, well, maybe if he had your knife to protect him, he wouldn't feel creeped out. :)

It's one thing to know someone died, but truly, you wouldn't be weirded out to know that the owner immediately preceding you was murdered, and that's why the condo is vacant? Hey, if so, want to buy a two-bedroom condo in Virginia?

Creeeeeeeepy! I'd go ahead and buy it, and make sure I avoid holding the satanic rituals nearby that spot.

Soooo much word.

Hee! Or, alternatively, be sure to definitely hold the Satanic rituals precisely there, as there's bound to be some righteous bad mojo working.
